Cookie Policy

This page explains what cookies are, which ones we use on the Thiwa Sombat website, why we use them, and how you can manage your preferences. We aim to be straightforward about this — cookies help us understand how our site is used so we can keep improving it for you.

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) when you visit. They help the site remember information about your visit — such as your preferences or whether you have consented to certain features — so you do not need to set them again each time.

Cookies do not contain personal information on their own, and they cannot install software or access files on your device. Think of them as a brief note the website leaves for itself to read next time you arrive.

Websites use cookies to make the experience more consistent and useful for visitors. Some cookies are essential for pages to function at all, while others help owners understand what is working well and what could be improved.

Cookies We Use

Essential Cookies

Always active — cannot be disabled

These cookies are necessary for the website to operate. Without them, core features such as page navigation and the contact form would not work correctly. Because they are required for basic functionality, they cannot be switched off.

Examples:

  • Session management (remembering form state during a visit)
  • Cookie consent preference storage (cookieConsent in localStorage)
  • Security tokens for contact form submissions

Analytics Cookies

Optional — helps us improve

Analytics cookies let us understand how visitors interact with our website — which pages are visited most, how long people spend reading, and where visitors come from. This information is always aggregated and anonymous; it does not identify individuals.

Examples:

  • Google Analytics — tracks page views and session duration (anonymised)
  • Bing Pixel — measures ad reach and campaign effectiveness
  • Visit frequency and referral source data

Marketing Cookies

Optional — for relevant outreach

Marketing cookies are used to present our programs to people who have expressed interest, and to measure whether outreach efforts are reaching the right audience. We do not use marketing cookies to serve advertisements for unrelated products.

Examples:

  • Facebook Pixel — identifies people who may benefit from our programs
  • Google Ads conversion tracking — measures enrollment inquiries
  • Remarketing tags for displaying our programs to interested visitors

Preference Cookies

Optional — for a smoother experience

Preference cookies remember choices you have made to personalise your experience. They save you from having to re-enter settings on each visit and help us serve content in a format you have indicated suits you.

Examples:

  • Language and region settings
  • Font size or reading mode preferences (if applicable)
  • Previously viewed program selections

Your Cookie Preferences

Use the toggles above or the buttons below to set your preferences. Essential cookies are always active. Your choices are saved to your browser and apply only to this device.

Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies on our site are set by third-party services that help us measure and improve our reach. These services have their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review:

  • Google Analytics & Google Ads — used for anonymised traffic measurement and conversion tracking. Google Privacy Policy
  • Meta (Facebook) Pixel — used to measure program interest among website visitors. Meta Privacy Policy
  • Microsoft Bing Pixel — used for audience measurement on the Bing advertising network. Microsoft Privacy Policy

We do not share personal data with advertisers beyond what is captured through the above services when you have consented to marketing cookies.

How Long Do Cookies Last?

Cookies fall into two duration categories:

Session Cookies

These exist only while your browser is open. They are deleted automatically when you close the browser tab or window.

Persistent Cookies

These remain on your device for a set period — typically 30 days to 2 years depending on the cookie type — or until you manually delete them.

Your consent preference (cookieConsent) is stored in your browser's localStorage without an expiry, meaning it persists until you clear your browser data or change your preference here.
